I LOVE the dies in the Grassy Grove bundle! The tree canopy die has so much versatility.

Approx. 4"
Instructions:
- Take one Basic White panel and die cut using the tree canopy die from the Groves Dies. Set aside.
- Take the Pecan Pie cardstock and cut one large and one small deer.
- Take the small piece of Basic White cardstock and die-cut the label from the Nested Essential Dies.
- Stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Circle Sayings stamp set using Early Espresso Ink.
- Take the 2nd piece of 5" x 3 1/2" Basic White cardstock and using Blending Brushes, color it with Old Olive and Misty Moonlight Ink. You only want the bottom quarter of the panel to be green and the rest to be blue to represent the grass and the blue sky above the grass.
- Take the tree canopy die-cut piece of Basic White cardstock. Start with applying a very light layer of Old Olive ink with a blending brush. You want to go all the way around all 4 sides of the card and the tree tops. Don't worry if you get the ink on the tree trunks. We will come back and color them in later.
- Take the stamp with the 3 trees and ink it with Old Olive ink. Start randomly stamping the tree images all over the tree top section of the die-cut as well as around the sides and bottom. You'll want to start with full strength and keep stamping it randomly, laying down lighter and lighter images as you go. This gives the depth of color needed to make it look like leaves on the trees and different colored grasses on the bottom.
- Once you are satisfied with how it looks, take the Early Espresso Marker and using the brush end, start coloring in the tree trunks and branches. The branches reach up into the leaves so be sure not to miss any of them.
- Pick up the die-cut piece from your work surface and look to see if there are any white spots still showing on the tree trunks and branches. If so, color them in with the marker.
- Turn the finished die cut over so that the white back is facing you. Apply liquid glue around all 4 sides and through the tree tops. Put a little glue on the tree trunks as well. Be careful not to use too much glue as it will seep out when you attach the card layer in the next step.
- Leave the die cut with the glue side facing up. Take the layer that you colored with the blender brushes, and make sure that it is in the right orientation (green on the bottom, blue on the top), lay it on top of the die-cut piece.
- Run your hand over the back of the layer to help adhere to the glue. Turn it over and check for any glue seepage. Use a damp wipe or paper towel to dab over any glue that needs to be removed.
- Take the die-cut layer and attach it to the Early Espresso layer. Adhere this layer to the card front.
- Using liquid glue, attach the small deer just to the right of the 1st set of trees on the card front. Using mini dimensionals, attach the large deer slightly to the right of the small deer.
TIP - only apply the dimensionals to the body of the deer, don't try to cut one down for the head, it's too small of an area and the dimensionals will be visible (unless you are working with something smaller than our mini dimensionals.
- Take the label with the sentiment and attach it to the top left of the card front using dimensionals.
- Tie a bow using the Linen Thread and apply it to the bottom of the label using a mini glue dot.
- Stamp the 3 trees on the inside of the card using Old Olive Ink.
- Add your sentiment of choice to the inside.
Here's a sample of this die attached to a piece of DSP as the back layer. It was from the New Horizons DSP, which is now retired. The die was colored using the same steps as the original card.
Here's another sample. This time, the tree canopy was cut from a piece of DSP (sorry, can't remember which pack). The base is another piece from the retired New Horizons DSP. The sentiment was stamped right on the card layer.
