T his card is rich with color and dimension. A really nice autumn thank-you card!
Project Recipe
Create a standard size card base with Crushed Curry cardstock. Cut the following mat layers:
Cajun Craze: 5 1/4 x 4
Early Espresso: 5 1/8 x 3 7/8
Very Vanilla: 5 x 3 3/4
Use the (retired) ticket corner punch on the corners of the Vanilla and Espresso layers.
Using Gold Encore ink, stamp the sentiment from the "Too Kind" stamp set in the top right corner of the Vanilla panel and heat emboss it with gold embossing powder. A Stamp-a-ma-jig helped me get good placement for this sentiment.
Adhere the Vanilla panel to the Espresso panel, and wrap two pieces of Color Me Autumn washi tape around it, tucking the ends around to the back.
Adhere the Vanilla panel directly onto the Cajun Craze panel. Add four brads in the corners, and adhere it directly onto a Crushed Curry card base. Now you are going to work on the feathers.
Get some scraps of Very Vanilla. Using the feathers dies, cut one large unstamped feather shape out. Then, stamp the large feather from the Four Feathers stamp set in Soft Suede ink on another scrap, and die cut it. Using the smaller feather image, stamp one in Cajun Craze ink and another in Gold Encore ink. Heat emboss the gold one with gold embossing powder. Die cut both small feathers out.
Using the 3/4" circle punch, cut a circle from a post it and adhere it to the unstamped feather where you want the sun to be. Sponge over this mask in graduated layers of Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, and some Soft Suede at the bottom. Remove the circle mask and lightly sponge in some Crushed Curry over the sun. Using Soft Suede ink, stamp the grasses from the Wetlands stamp set. Using the Soft Suede Stampin' Write marker, draw some little birds in the sky.
Using snail, adhere the sponged feather scene directly to the Vanilla panel, overlapping the washi tape slightly at the bottom.
Using snail, adhere the other three feathers together so that they are fanned out and overlapping each other. Once they are stuck together, tie a linen thread bow around the "stems." Then adhere the feather cluster to the front of the card with dimensionals. I also used a dot of glue on the back of the linen thread to hold it in place and keep it from sliding off.
Your card is done!
