C
heck out this super fun way to make gift card holders using SU! envelopes!
Thanks to Ronda Wade for providing the idea. Here's my take on how to decorate them :)
Project Recipe
Measurements:
DSP:
4 1/4" x 2 3/4" - cut 3, using 2 different
patterns (2 of the same patterns, 1
different)
Cherry Cobbler:
4 1/4" x 2 3/4" - Inside gift card Layer
3 3/4" x 2" - Tag Die cut
Basic White:
4 1/8" x 2 5/8" - layer for gift card
2 3/4" x 3/4" - sentiment die-cut
2 3/4" x 2 1/2" - Inside deer die-cut
2" x 1 3/4" - deer face layer
Early Espresso:
2 1/2" x 2" - deer face antlers
Pecan Pie:
2" x 1 3/4"
Ribbon:
16"
Instructions:
The base of this gift card holder is a SU! Medium envelope. You can probably substitute another envelope type as long as it is the same size.
The first step is to fold the envelope in half vertically.
Lay the envelope so that the back side of it is facing you. Cut away the top right section. This leaves just the top flap on the top left hand side.
I used a retired 3/4" circle punch to cut a half-circle on the right top inside section of the envelope.
While this step isn't necessary, I think it helps with the removal of the inside card.
The last step is to seal the flap on the left-hand side.
Now you are ready to decorate!
Choose the 2 DSP layers that match. They will go on the front and back of the gift card holder.
Wrap your ribbon around the gift card holder, adjusting it so that the ends are even on the right-hand side.
Place a small amount of double-sided adhesive on the front of the gift card holder to help hold the ribbon in place on the front.
Adhere one DSP layer on the front.
Adhere the 2nd matching layer on the back of the gift card holder.
NOTE: You can choose to place your ribbon under this layer, just as you did with the front. Or, you can allow the ribbon to show on the back. If you do this, I suggest placing a little double-sided adhesive on the back layer to keep the ribbon in place.
Die cut the label from the remaining piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock.
Die cut the small pieces of Basic White, Early Espresso, and Pecan Pie for the deer face. Assemble the face using liquid glue.
Color one of the largest rhinestones with Dark Cherry Cobbler blends and attach to the deer with a glue dot.
Attach the Cherry Cobbler label to the front of the gift card. Add the deer face using dimensional.
Stamp the sentiment on the 2 3/4" x 3/4' piece of Basic White. Attach this to the front of the gift card holder using double-sided adhesive.
Take the 4 1/2" x 2 5/8" piece of Basic White and stamp your sentiment.
Attach this to the 4 1/4" x 2 3/4" piece of Cherry Cobbler. This is what slides into the pocket. The gift card can be adhered to the back of this, or simply slide it behind the card.
Adhere the 3rd piece of DSP to the inside of the gift card holder.
Stamp the deer on Basic White using Pecan Pie and die. Attach this to the inside of the gift card holder.
Close the gift card holder and tie the ribbons into a bow.
You are finished!
