Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Balmy Blue Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 5" x 8" from Blushing Bride or Basic White Cardstock, scored at 2", 4", and 6"
- 1-3/4" x 4-3/4" of small flowers design from Fitting Florets 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper
- 1-3/4" x 4-3/4" from Basic White Cardstock (if making the blue and pink card)
- 2 squares each 1-1/4" square from Basic White Cardstock (if making the blue and pink card)
- 1-1/4" square from Balmy Blue Cardstock (if making the blue and white card)
- 2 pieces each 1" x 1-3/4" from Evening Evergreen Cardstock (if making the blue and white card
- 1" x 1-3/4" from Evening Evergreen Cardstock (if making the blue and pink card)
Pick out both the open oval with tiny hearts along the edge die and the open oval with hatch marks along the edge die from the Framed Florets Dies. Put them both on top of the front side of the open Balmy Blue card on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so they are in the center of the card front and centered over each other. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces as needed.
Note: You are using the card and the solid oval for this project. Keep the hatch marked oval frame cut out and the tiny heart cut outs for use on other projects if you wish.
Fold the 5" x 8" scored white or Blushing Bride rectangle on all score lines from the left to the right so you have a mountain fold, a mountain fold, and a valley fold.
As you are ready to stamp using the Framed Florets Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the " For a special person on a special day" sentiment from the Framed Florets Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Balmy Blue Ink Pad.
For the blue and white card, stamp it on the last panel of the 5" x 8" scored white rectangle near the top and centered side to side.
For the blue and pink card, stamp it on the 1-3/4" x 4-3/4" white rectangle so it is near the top and centered side to side. Then, adhere the stamped white rectangle to the last panel of the 5" x 8" scored Blushing Bride rectangle so it is centered on the panel.
Adhere the strip of Fitting Florets Designer Paper to the third panel of the white or Blushing Bride scored rectangle so it is centered in the panel.
Now, use Tear & Tape Adhesive strips on the back of the final sentiment stamped panel to adhere it to the inside of the card on the right side so there is about 1/4" of Balmy Blue showing on the top and bottom edges and about 3/8" of Balmy Blue showing on the right edge.
Fold the scored Blushing Bride or white 5" x 8" rectangle down so it fits inside the card when the card is closed.
Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive down the left edge of the folded shut Blushing Bride or white 5" x 8" scored rectangle. Remove the protective backing and fold the card shut. Press firmly to make sure the adhesive sticks well. Now, when you open the card, you should have an open square formed by the crease of the card and the first three panels of the insert.
Mount the "Wishes for a beautiful birthday" sentiment from the Framed Florets Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Evening Evergreen Ink Pad. Stamp it as close as possible to the top of the vertical, solid Balmy Blue oval cut out of the front of the card in an earlier step.
Mount the larger, single flower image from the Framed Florets Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad and stamp it once on the small Balmy Blue square if making the blue and white card or twice on the small white squares if making the pink and blue card. If stamping multiple times, remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Pick out the matching, larger, single flower die from the Framed Florets Dies. Put it on top of the stamped flower image on a square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine. Repeat if needed to cut out the second flower if making the pink and blue card.
Place the flower cut out(s) on a piece of Grid Paper to protect your work surface as the Stampin' Blends do bleed through.
If making the blue and white card, use the Dark Night Of Navy Stampin' Blends to color in the center and folded petal edges of the Balmy Blue flower cut out.
Use the Light Night Of Navy Stampin' Blends to outline the crease/shadow lines on the petals of the Balmy Blue flower cut out.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends to blend and soften the lines of color on the Balmy Blue flower cut out.
If making the blue and pink card, use the Dark and Light Night Of Navy Stampin' Blends to color in one of the white flower cut outs. Color outside the lines.
Use the Dark and Light Polished Pink Stampin' Blends to color in the other white flower cut out. Color outside the lines.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends to blend and soften the lines of color on both white flower cut outs.
If making the blue and white card, pick out both small, solid leaf dies that cut out detailed leaves from the Framed Florets Dies. Put them on top of the small Evening Evergreen rectangles on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Make sure the dies and cardstock do NOT overlap. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces,

If making the blue and white card, use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the two leaf cut outs to the lower left side of the stamped sentiment Balmy Blue oval as shown so they overlap a bit. VERY IMPORTANT - make sure NO adhesive goes over the edges of the oval! Now, use a Mini Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the colored Balmy Blue flower cut out to the bottom right side of the stamped sentiment Balmy Blue oval as shown so it covers the ends of the leaf stems. VERY IMPORTANT - make sure NO adhesive goes over the edges of the oval!

Turn your stamped and layered sentiment oval upside down on your work surface. Put strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive down the left half only (this will be the right half when turned right side up again).
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape strips and adhere the stamped and layered sentiment oval to the front of the card so it is centered inside the oval cut into the front of the card. It should ONLY adhere to the right side of the fold in the center of the oval made by the insert. Open your card to make sure everything is properly adhered.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up one or two swirls from the sheet of Gold Adhesive-Backed Swirls making sure you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the centers of the flower cut outs.
