W ho says you have to use Christmas stamps to make a Christmas card? I used several items from the Holiday Catalog to make this delicate and gorgeous baby card.
Project Recipe
I love the Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder so much! We've received some really wonderful knitted and crocheted baby blankets for our three babies, and one of the first things I thought of when I saw this folder was that this would make a wonderful baby blanket card! Then I saw the bear in the Cookie Cutter Christmas Photopolymer Bundle, and a card idea was born.
The base is Whisper White, and this time I decided to make a square card (4.5"x4.5"). The Cable Knit embossed panel uses Blushing Bride cardstock. Tip: To get a deep impression, spritz your cardstock with water before you run it through the Big Shot. I did not spritz on this card, so you will get an even deeper impression.
Building the bear in Cookie Cutter Christmas can be confusing. I stamped the bear stamp (which would also make a great puffy snowsuit) in Crumb Cake ink. I punched her out with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch. Two circles are punched out with the bear. On those, stamp the ears, also in Crumb Cake. Since the stamps are photopolymer, you can see exactly where you need to stamp. Then glue the bottom, unstamped part of the ear behind the bear's head. Stamp the eyes, nose, and mouth in Archival Black ink. Stamp the hair bow (or bow tie, if you have a boy bear) in Blushing Bride, and punch that out separately and glue it on.
I used the Layering Circles Framelits to mount the bear. The white circle is Whisper White, and I cut out a larger scalloped circle using the same dies and the Gold Glimmer Paper. I glued the White circle to the Gold circle. Tip: I cut out the middle of the Gold circle with a smaller framelit from the same set, because 1) I don't like to waste Glimmer Paper, and there's like two inches of Glimmer under there! [my apologies for the grammar] and 2) the Glimmer is hard to adhere things to. So I did glue the White circle to the Glimmer circle, but I also glued the middle of the White circle to the Blushing Bride background, just for extra adhesive security.
I popped the bear up on Dimensionals, then painted the bear and her adorable bow with Wink of Stella.
The sentiment? "Special Delivery" comes from the Tin of Tags stamp set in the Holiday Catalog! (Another super-versatile set that I'm using ALL THE TIME.) I stamped that in Blushing Bride and punched it out with the Classic Label Punch.
