Project Recipe
1. Cardstock to be cut.
a. Pineapple Punch - cut one 5 ¼ “ x 9”
b. Blueberry Bushel – cut two 4” x 2 ¾ “
c. Lovely Lipstick – cut one 4 ¼ “ x 2 ¾ “
d. Basic Black – cut two 3 ¾ “ x 2 ½ “
e. Whisper White – cut one 4 1/8 “ x 2 ½ “, cut two 3 5/8 “ x 2 3/8 “ and a small scrap about 2” x 2”
f. Soft plastic (ex. Cello or plastic baggies) cut one 1 ¼ “ x 9”
2. Stamp images.
a. On the WW 4 1/8”x2 ½” – Stamp three presents using the square and rectangle images from Bonanza Buddies. Alternate colors Grapefruit Grove, Call Me Clover and Blueberry Bushel. On the scrap piece, stamp four more presents, again alternating two squares and two rectangles in Pineapple Punch, Lovely Lipstick, and Blueberry Bushel. Finally stamp the ribbon image onto the presents. Fussy cut the four presents stamped onto the scrap piece and using dimensionals, adhere them scaffolded above the ones stamped on the larger WW cardstock. Above the presents, stamp the sentiment, “You deserve the best…” from the Birthday Jubilee stamp set. (Optional stamping – using Pineapple Punch and the splotch image from Beauty Abounds stamp set, stamp a few images as a background to the larger WW piece before stamping the presents and adhering the additional images.) Adhere the WW stamped cardstock onto the Lovely Lipstick cardstock.
b. On the first of the two 3 5/8” x 2 3/8” WW pieces, stamp the Toucan image and Happy Birthday sentiment from Bonanza Buddies. Using Stamping’ Write Markers, color in the face and beak of the Toucan. Adhere that WW onto one of the Black pieces of cardstock, and then those onto the Blueberry Bushel cardstock.
c. On the second of the two 3 5/8” x 2 3/8” WW pieces, stamp “I’m glad it’s your birthday…” sentiment. Then stamp the string image to help stage the location of the 3-5 balloons you will stamp using the circle image and alternating the colors, Pineapple Punch, Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove, and Call Me Clover. (This image will require using a masking technique. Cut out a balloon circle and cover the balloon stamped before stamping additional balloons to give an overlapping effect.)
3. Assemble the casing.
a. Score the Pineapple Punch piece of cardstock along the long side: ½ “, 3 ½ “, and 6 ½ “, then using the bone folder rub along the creases.
b. Fold the cardstock to align the two 3” sections. (The ½ tab will overlap onto the 2 ½” section.) Using the 2” punch, punch a semi-circle notch on the one end through both 3” sections
c. Then using the 1 5/8” square die from the Layering Squares Dies, cut a notch on both ends of the 2 ½ “ section of the card.
d. Wrap the plastic strip around the square notches, using Tear & Tape Adhesive, adhere the plastic strip ends together, trimming any excess plastic off the end.
e. Line the edge of the ½” strip with Tear & Tape. Trim the edge of cardstock closer to the tape.
f. Adhere three Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to the opposite ends of the plastic, one set on the top and the other set on the underneath.
g. Lay the stamped cards as shown in the photo; one to attach on the top of the cardstock’s plastic ribbon and the other to attach (face up) on the backside of the cardstock’s plastic ribbon.
h. Carefully, tucking the ½ “ tab behind the forward cardstock, adhere the front flap to the back cardstock. Use one of the partial circles punched out earlier to adhere to the back of the Happy Birthday section. (This will facilitate pulling the cards out.)
i. Adhere a bow made with the Pineapple Punch 1/8 “ Grosgrain Ribbon to the top of the semi-circle.
4. Final topping. Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, adhere the Lovely Lipstick on the front cover of the Pineapple Punch.
