Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, designer paper, and Foam Adhesive Sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
-5-1/4" x 7-1/4" of light yellow daffodil flowers on darker yellow background design from Daffodil Afternoon 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, cut so the flowers are vertical on the vertical rectangle
- 5-1/4" x 7-1/4" of rows of small white pluses on black background design from Daffodil Afternoon 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
-3" x 4-3/4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 1-5/8" x 5" from Basic Black Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 5" of rows of tiny light green hearts on vanilla background design from Daffodil Afternoon 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, cut so the hearts are vertical on the horizontal rectangle
- 1" x 3-1/2" from Basic Black Cardstock
- 7/8" x 3-3/8" from Foam Adhesive Sheets
- 2" x 4" from So Saffron Cardstock
- 2" x 5-1/2" from Daffodil Delight Cardstock
- 1-1/2" square from Crushed Curry Cardstock
- 1" x 1-1/2" from Daffodil Delight Cardstock
Tear a piece of paper from the inside of the notebook. Place the torn out paper on top of one of the large rectangles of daffodil pattern Daffodil Afternoon Designer Paper with the daffodil pattern face up and the spiral bound edge on the left. Trace the edges of the torn out paper using a pencil. Be sure to trace the indents where the spiral binding fits to hold the notebook together. Repeat in the exact same way on the other large rectangle of daffodil pattern Daffodil Afternoon Designer Paper with the daffodil pattern face up and the spiral bound edge on the left.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the traced designer papers. Be sure to cut little slits on each interior side of each binding indentation.
Use the eraser on the pencil to erase any pencil lines you can still see on the cut out designer paper.
Fold the little tabs of paper formed by the slits on the interior of each indentation along the spiral binding area back. One one piece you will fold the little tabs back towards the black side of the paper keeping the spiral bound edge on the upper left side. On the other piece, your will fold the little tabs back towards the yellow side of the paper keeping the spiral bound edge on the upper right side.
Put pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive along the back side of the edges of the cut out designer paper. Use one piece of Tear & Tape to hold the folded back tabs of paper along the spiral binding edge flat.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape and add extra Stampin' Seal to the center of the back of the designer paper cut outs. Adhere the yellow daffodil designer paper cut out to the front cover of the notebook. Tuck the cut outs of the spiral binding area around the spiral binding. Adhere the white pluses on black designer paper cut out to the back cover of the notebook. Tuck the cut outs of the spiral binding area around the spiral binding.
Adhere the strip of rows of tiny green hearts Daffodil Afternoon Designer Paper to the center of the 1-5/8" x 5" black strip. The left and right edges will be even.
Adhere the matted strip of designer paper to the bottom of the notebook cover so it is about 7/8" from the bottom and the left and right edges are even.
Mount the bunch of 3 daffodils image from the Daffodil Daydream Set on Block E. Ink it up with the Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the vanilla rectangle.
Pick out the matching, large, open bunch of daffodils die from the Daffodil Dies. Put it on top of the stamped bunch of daffodils image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Tip: It is often better to cut an image out with dies before spending all the time to color it in. That way if the die slips during the cutting process, you haven't wasted a lot of time on the coloring.
Put the daffodil bunch cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark So Saffron Stampin' Blends to color in the petals of the daffodil flowers.
Use the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends to color in the trumpets of the daffodil flowers and the bud.
Use the Light and Dark Old Olive Stampin' Blends to color in the stems and leaves.
Use the Dark Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blends to color in the vanilla spaces between the flowers and leaves/stems and the edges of the image.
Adhere the colored daffodil bunch cut out to the front of the notebook cover so the left edge is about 1/4" from the left edge of the notebook and the bottom of the cut out is about 1/2" from the bottom of the matted designer paper strip.
Pick out both solid 3 daffodil petals base dies from the Daffodil Dies. Put them on top of the So Saffron rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the machine.
Pick out both detailed 3 daffodil petals base dies and one of the solid daffodil flutes from the Daffodil Dies. Put them all on top of the large Daffodil Delight rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces if needed.
Pick out one of the detailed daffodil flutes dies from the Daffodil Dies. Put it on top of the Crushed Curry square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces if needed.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the detailed daffodil cut out pieces to the corresponding solid daffodil cut out pieces.
Adhere the layered 3 petals base cut outs on top of each other to make a full base.
Adhere the layered flute cut out to the center of the layered, stacked petals base cut out.
Adhere the layered daffodil flower cut out to the front of the notebook cover so it overlaps the bottom of the stems of the colored daffodil cut out as shown.
Peel the protective backing off of the Foam Adhesive Sheets rectangle. Adhere the Foam Adhesive Sheets rectangle to one side of the remaining, smaller black rectangle. Be sure to leave the other protective backing in place for now.
Pick out the "N," "O," "T," "E," and "S" dies from the Playful Alphabet Dies. Put them on top of the black rectangle with Foam Adhesive Sheet on back on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the black side is face up. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces. Leave the protective backings in place for now.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the black letter cut outs on the top of the designer paper strip on the notebook cover to spell out "NOTES" and figure out spacing. When happy with the arrangement, adhere the cut outs in place one at a time by peeling off the protective backings.
Mount the small butterfly image from the Daffodil Daydream Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the remaining smaller Daffodil Delight rectangle.
Pick out the matching, open butterfly die from the Daffodil Dies. Put it on top of the stamped butterfly image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Put the butterfly cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends to color in the interior areas of the butterfly wings.
Use a Mini Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the colored butterfly cut out to the front of the notebook cover at a slight angle in the upper right corner.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of the Black & White 1/4" Gingham Ribbon.
Tie the ribbon around the top spiral binding using a half knot. Trim the ends.
