P retty Christmas gift bag and matching card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
For bag:
- 2 12" x 12" pieces of the pine sprays and green leaf sprays on white background design from Painted Christmas 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
For card:
- card from Soft Succulent Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Evening Evergreen Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Basic White Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-7/8" of small bunches of pine cones and pine boughs on white background design from Painted Christmas 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 3" x 3" square from Basic White Cardstock
- 2-3/4" x 4" from Basic White Cardstock
To make the bag:
Use the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score both pieces of the designer paper using these measurements:
- score along the top of the paper at 2"
- score along the other three sides at 3"
Tip: If the paper has a pattern with a clear orientation, make sure you score both pieces the same so the pattern is right side up on both pieces.
Fold along all score lines using the Bone Folder to get a sharp crease.
Decide which side of the paper you want to have on the majority of the outside of the bag and which side you want on the inside. Fold down along the top 2" score line so the inside pattern shows along the top edge of both pieces of designer paper. Use Stampin' Seal+ to adhere the paper in place.
On one piece of paper, use Paper Snips to cut in along the bottom score line on both sides until you hit the side score lines. Put Stampin' Seal+ on the tops of the side flaps and fold the paper up to make a half box with an open top edge. Use the Bone Folder to burnish the paper to make sure the adhesive sticks really well.
On the other piece of paper, completely cut out the two squares on the bottom edges using Paper Snips leaving only a rectangular bottom flap and 2 side flaps. Put Stampin' Seal+ on the tops of the flaps and insert into the half box you made previously lining up all the edges. Use the Bone Folder to burnish the paper to make sure the adhesive sticks really well.
Tip: Save the squares you cut out on the bottom edges of the paper to use on another project.
Use the handheld circle punch to punch holes in the top of the bag for putting in ribbon handles. Put two holes each on both the front and back upper edges. Try to make sure they are evenly spaced.
Cut two pieces each 16" of the Evening Evergreen 3/8" Chevron Weave Ribbon.
Tie a knot in the very end of one side of one piece of the ribbon. Thread the unknotted end through one of the holes on the front of the bag from inside the bag and then back through the other hole on the front of the bag so the loose end is back on the inside of the bag. Tie the loose end in a knot. Trim the ends. Repeat with the other ribbon piece on the holes on the back of the bag.
Insert a gift in the bag.
Put crumpled pieces of Ever Eden 12" x 12" Cotton Paper (or tissue paper) on top of the gift to hide it.
To make card:
As you are ready to stamp using the Christmas Season Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the set of two pine needle boughs image from the Christmas Season Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Soft Succulent Ink Pad. Stamp it on the large, vertical white rectangle so the tips are pointing up and are about 1" from the top edge and the bottom ends are near the center.
Mount the single pine needle bough image from the Christmas Season Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Evening Evergreen Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the previously stamped pine needle boughs image. Without re-inking, stamp it again slightly to the side of the first image.
Adhere the piece of Painted Christmas Designer Paper to the bottom of the stamped, vertical white rectangle.
Adhere the stamped white/designer paper rectangle to the center of the Evening Evergreen rectangle.
Cut a 4-3/4" piece of the Evening Evergreen 3/8" Chevron Weave Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the matted, stamped white/designer paper rectangle so it covers the seam between the white rectangle and designer paper pieces. Flip the rectangle over and secure the ends of the ribbon in place with small strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape and add more adhesive to the back of the Evening Evergreen rectangle. Adhere it to the front of the Soft Succulent card.
Mount the "May this be a Christmas to remember & cherish" or the "Friends like you make this season special" sentiment from the Christmas To Remember Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Evening Evergreen Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the white square.
Pick out the large label with rounded ends on two sides and flat edges on the other sides die from the Seasonal Labels Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the sentiment is centered in the die with the flat edges on the right and left sides. Run through the machine.
Use the side of the brush tip of the Evening Evergreen Marker to carefully outline the edges of the sentiment cut out.
Put Stampin' Dimensionals on the back of the sentiment cut out near the center. Remove the protective backings. Adhere the sentiment cut out to the front of the card so it is centered over the ribbon on the right side.
Mount the smaller, more solid pinecone image from the Christmas Season Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Soft Suede Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the remaining white strip.
Mount the smaller, more open pinecone image from the Christmas Season Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Early Espresso Ink Pad. Stamp it over the top of the previously stamped small pinecone image.
Mount the larger, more solid pinecone image from the Christmas Season Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Soft Suede Ink Pad. Stamp it on the other end of the remaining white strip. Leave room between the images to cut them out.
Mount the larger, more open pinecone image from the Christmas Season Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Early Espresso Ink Pad. Stamp it over the top of the previously stamped large pinecone image.
Pick out the matching, open pinecone dies from the Seasonal Labels Dies. Put them on top of the stamped pinecones on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so they are centered over the pinecone images. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the machine.
Adhere the large pinecone cut out to the front of the card so the bottom is tucked under the upper left side of the sentiment cut out and the top of the pinecone is pointing towards the upper left corner.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the small pinecone cut out to the front of the card so the bottom is tucked under the left side of the sentiment cut out, the pinecone overlaps the bottom of the large pinecone and the ribbon a bit, and the tip of the pinecone is pointing to the left and slightly down.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of the Evening Evergreen 3/8" Chevron Weave Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the front of the card so it is vertical and is centered over the ribbon already on the card front on the right side of the sentiment cut out.
