A thinking of you card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Pecan Pie Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Early Espresso Cardstock
- 2" x 5" of larger Pecan Pie plaid design from Glorious Gingham 6" x 6 Designer Series Paper
- 2-1/4" square from Pecan Pie Cardstock
- 1-3/4" square from Early Espresso Cardstock
- 2-3/4" x 3" from Basic White Cardstock
As you are ready to stamp using the Carousel Horses Set or Ringed With Nature Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "thinking of you" sentiment from the Ringed With Nature Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Early Espresso Ink Pad. Stamp it in the lower right corner of the large, vertical, Early Espresso rectangle so it is as close as possible to the bottom and right edges.
Adhere the strip of Pecan Pie plaid Glorious Gingham Designer Paper to the left side of the stamped Early Espresso rectangle so about 1/8" of Early Espresso shows on the top, left, and bottom edges.
Adhere the stamped and layered Early Espresso rectangle to the front of the Pecan Pie card.
Lay the large horse without a pole image from the Carousel Horses Set stamping side down on your work surface. Press Block E to it to mount the stamp. Ink up the stamp with the Early Espresso Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the white rectangle.
Pick out the matching, large, open horse without a pole die from the Carousel Horses Dies. Put it on top of the stamped image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Place the horse cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark Deep Natural Tones Stampin' Blends to color in the horse's tack around his chest and about half of the saddle.
Use the Dark and Light Medium Deep Natural Tones Stampin' Blends and Dark and Light Medium Natural Tones Stampin' Blends to add some streaks of to the horse's mane.
Use the Light and Dark Medium Natural Tones Stampin' Blends and Light and Dark Pecan Pie Stampin' Blends to color in the horse's head, chest, and upper front leg.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends to remove any excess color and blend the edges.
Don't worry about coloring in the rest of the horse as you will be cutting most of it off.
Pick out the stitched square die from the Stylish Shapes Dies that cuts out a square that is 2" wide. Put it on top of the Pecan Pie square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
Pick out the stitched square die from the Stylish Shapes Dies that cuts out a square that is 1-1/2" wide. Put it on top of the Early Espresso square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
Adhere the colored horse's head and upper body to the center of the Early Espresso square so the square is making a diamond. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess horse cut out as needed along the bottom right and left sides of the diamond.
If needed, use the appropriate Stampin' Blends to color in any white areas of the horse cut out on the diamond.
Adhere the horse head diamond to the center of the Pecan Pie square cut out so it is still a diamond shape.
Adhere the matted diamond horse head to the front of the card so it is centered side to side over the right edge of the designer paper rectangle and is about 3/4" from the top.
Cut an 8" piece of the Gold 1/8" Faux Leather Trim.
Fold the leather trim in half. Tie a knot in the center of the folded leather trim so there is a loop about 1-1/4" big at the top of the leather trim. Trim off excess leather trim on the bottom loose edges as needed.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the leather trim loop to the front of the card as shown so it lays along the bottom left side of the horse head diamond.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 3 gold dots of the same size from the sheet of Brushed Metallic Dots making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them in a straight line down in the upper right corner of the card as shown.
