T
his fun-fold looks very involved, but with some careful scoring, you will be amazed how simple this card can be. Once you've made yourself a pattern you will have it down.
Thank you to Jennifer McGuire for the general layout idea.
Project Recipe
Cut all paper as follows:
~Card base-choose your cardstock color and cut it to 5 1/2" x 11" . Then cut a 1" x 3" piece from same color.
~White cardstock-7/8" x 2 7/8", 2 7/8" x 2 7/8", and a scrap around 1 1/2" x 3"
~Designer Series Paper ( patterned paper, aka DSP)- example if from New Horizons paper pack from Stampin' Up.- 3 1/2" x 5 1/4", vertical layout
Stamp all sentiments and any scenes or other stamped images you'd like on your card-
~ Stamp the sign/board piece that is from the "On the Horizon" stamp set from Stampin' Up! Use the scrap, white cardstock piece 1 1/2" x 3"). I used Soft Suede ink color.
~ On white 2 7/8" x 7/8" stamp sentiment for front. I used black ink and the words "Thinking of you".
~on square white piece for inside (2 7/8" x 2 7/8") stamp desired sentiment for inside of the card. I Used black ink and the words "Relax& enjoy your day" from the On the Horizon Stamp set
~ if you want to stamp any birds, trees, greenery on your dsp you can do that now. I just stamped the birds in the sky in black.
Prepare card base-
~Put a light pencil line down the center of the base cardstock piece, which is at 5 1/2". Have the base horizontally oriented on score board or trimmer.
~Make light pencil lines 3 3/4" in from each end, parallel to first line
~Rotate base to short side up in trimmer. Make light pencil lines at 1" down from each long edge on the pencil lines at the 3 3/4" in. Do top and bottom edges so you have 4 little lines drawn.
~Rotate back to horizontal on trimmer. Score in 2" from each end, again parallel to lines drawn on card base.
~Make score lines from each of the 1" pencil marks diagonally to top edges/corners of next panel. See photo. When finished it should look like scored w or m on each long edge.
Fold on score lines and burnish. The w/m scores can be carefully pushed inwards and burnished with bone folder.
Erase pencil marks.
Assemble:
~Cut dsp for front in half vertically and adhere to the front panels using Liquid glue or Seal.
~Adhere front sentiment onto colored card stock mat. Use dimensionals and adhere this onto stamped board image. Put adhesive onto left half only of this board/sentiment piece and adhere to left front panel of card.
~Mat inside sentiment onto colored square. Glue to inside.
Add ribbon and any other embellishments you'd like.
