Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- 2-1/4" x 4-1/4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 2-1/4" x 4-1/4" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 2-1/4" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 1" square from Very Vanilla Cardstock
Pick out the largest, straight edges top tag die from the Tailor Made Tags Dies. Put it on top of the 2-1/4" x 4-1/4" Very Vanilla rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Repeat with the 2-1/4" x 4-1/4" Old Olive rectangle.
As you are ready to stamp using the Alphabest Set or Bird's Eye View Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of Grid Paper on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the letters "r," "e," "a," and "d" from the Alphabest Set on Block G in a straight line down so they spell out the word "read" vertically. Ink them up with the Real Red Ink Pad and stamp them all at once on the left edge of the vertical vanilla tag cut out so the "d" is about 1-1/4" from the bottom of the tag.
Mount the large bird looking straight ahead with both wings showing image from the Bird's Eye View Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the right side of the vertical vanilla tag so the feet are just below the bottom of the "d" in the word "read."
Place the stamped vanilla tag on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Medium Deep Natural Tones Stampin' Blends to color in the bird's wings and to outline the feathers on the bird's chest.
Use the Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends to color in the bird's chest and beak and to draw circles around the bird's eyes.
Use the Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends to color in the bird's head.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends as needed to remove excess color.
Mount the rounded glasses image from the Bird's Eye View Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Real Red Ink Pad. Stamp it over the top of the stamped and colored bird so it frames his eyes.
Mount the grouping of stars image from the Alphabest Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Crushed Curry Ink Pad. Stamp the stars just above the head of the bird.
Mount the stack of books image from the Bird's Eye View Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the small Old Olive rectangle. Re-ink the stamp and stamp it again on the small Very Vanilla square so you get the ends of the books with the pages showing.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the complete stack of books by hand. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the ends of the books showing the pages by hand so you only get the pages.
Adhere the pages cut out to the end of the stack of books cut out so the pages are vanilla.
Adhere the layered stack of books cut out to the bottom of the stamped and colored vanilla tag so it is just below the bird's feet and is centered side to side.
Adhere the stamped, colored, and layered vanilla tag over the top of the Old Olive tag at a slight angle as shown. Make sure the holes at the top of the tags line up and that no adhesive sticks out past the edge of the Old Olive tag on the back of the vanilla tag.
Cut a 6" piece of the burlap ribbon from the Real Red & Burlap Ribbon Combo Pack.
Thread the ribbon through the holes in the top of the tags and pull it through until it is even.
Cut a 4" piece of the Real Red ribbon from the Real Red & Burlap Ribbon Combo Pack.
Tie the red ribbon around the burlap ribbon using a knot so it is tied just above the top of the tags. Trim the ends of both pieces of ribbon.
