B right and cheery birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Crushed Curry Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Call Me Clover Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 5-1/4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 3-1/2" square from Crushed Curry Cardstock
- 2" x 3" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
Insert the Call Me Clover rectangle into the Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Place the folder with the card stock inside directly on your Big Shot Platform at the lowest possible setting. Place a Cutting Pad on top of the folder and run through the Big Shot.
VERY IMPORTANT: You are using only ONE Cutting Pad. If you try to use two, the sandwich will be too thick and you could damage the Big Shot.
As you are ready to stamp using the Best Birds Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "happy birthday" sentiment from the Best Birds Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Call Me Clover Ink Pad. Stamp it on the right side of the long vanilla rectangle.
Adhere the stamped vanilla rectangle to the bottom of the dry embossed green rectangle.
Cut a 6" piece of 3/16" Braided Linen Trim.
Lay the trim across the cardstock layers so the trim covers the seam between the layers. Flip the layers over and fold the ends of the trim over. Adhere the ends of the trim in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive. Leave the protective backings in place for now.
Pick out the scalloped circle framelit from the Layering Circles Framelits that cuts out a scalloped circle that is 3" diameter. Place the square of Crushed Curry Cardstock on the Cutting Pad on top of the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the scalloped circle framelit on top. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Place the scalloped circle cut out back on the Cutting Pad on top of the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the scalloped circle framelit on top so the points in between the scallops on the framelit barely overlap the rounded scallops on the cut out scalloped circle. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Tip: This should give you a jagged edge all around the edge of the circle cut out.
Adhere the jagged edge circle cut out to the Call Me Clover/Very Vanilla rectangle on the left side so the circle overlaps the Braided Linen Trim by about 1" and the left side of the circle is about 1/4" in from the left edge and the bottom of the circle goes off the bottom edge.
Use Paper Snips to trim off excess cardstock along the bottom edge.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add SNAIL to the back of the Call Me Clover rectangle. Adhere it to the front of the Crushed Curry card.
Mount the smaller bird that faces to the right when stamped image from the Best Birds Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Crushed Curry Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the smaller vanilla rectangle.
Pick out the matching, open bird framelit from the Birds & Blooms Thinlits. Place the stamped bird image on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the bird framelit on top so it is centered over the image. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Make sure you have some paper (Grid Paper works great) at your work space.to protect the work surface. The Stampin' Blends Markers will bleed through the cardstock that you are coloring so you need to protect your work surface.
Place the stamped and cut out bird image on the work paper and start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas.
Use the Smoky Slate Light Stampin' Blends to put a small amount of gray under the bird's wing and along the belly. Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends to blend out the edges and soften the color.
Use the Daffodil Delight Light and Dark Stampin' Blends to color in the rest of the bird and further blend in the gray lines.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the colored bird cut out to the front of the card so it is centered in the jagged circle cut out from side to side and the beak is in line with the Braided Linen Trim on the card front.
Cut a piece of 3/16" Braided Linen Trim about 2-1/2" long.
Tie the trim in a half-knot in the center. Fray the two ends of the trim by gently pulling the trim apart. Trim the ends with Paper Snips.
Adhere the trim knot to the front of the card using a Mini Glue Dot so it is in line with the trim already on the card near the bird's beak.
