B eautiful card using Stampin' Up! products from Sale-A-Bration 2018 and the Occasions Catalog.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Powder Pink Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 3-1/4" x 4-1/2" of swooshes of different colors and gold design from Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper
- 2-1/4" x 3-1/2" from Powder Pink Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 2" from Powder Pink Cardstock
- 1" x 3-1/2" from Melon Mambo Cardstock
As you are ready to stamp on each piece of cardstock using the Beautiful Peacock stamps, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. If you will be stamping off the edge of the cardstock, place a piece of scratch paper on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the curving feathers image from the Beautiful Peacock Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Powder Pink Ink Pad. Stamp in the upper right corner of the front of the Powder Pink card so that the feathers are pointing up and curving towards the middle of the card. Leave the stamp on the block.
Re-ink the curving feathers image with Powder Pink Ink and stamp in the lower left corner so that the feathers are pointing down and curving towards the middle of the card.
Mount the large tail image with a blank space for the bird's body on Block C. Ink it up with the Calypso Coral Ink Pad. Place the inked up stamp in front of you inky side up. Use the brush tip of the Melon Mambo Marker to randomly thump the tip onto the inky stamp multiple times from different angles and in different areas. Use the brush tip of the Rich Razzleberry Marker in the same way. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink and stamp it on the center of the left side of the large Powder Pink rectangle.
Tip: This is called the thumping technique!
Mount the bird image on Block C. Ink it up with the Rich Razzleberry Ink Pad. Stamp it in the open space for the bird's body on the previously stamped image. Be sure to clean the stamp when you are done using the Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub.
Place a piece of scratch paper across the bird at an angle to protect the lower left side of the cardstock from getting stamped.
Mount the straight feathers image on Block H. Ink it up with the Rich Razzleberry Ink Pad and stamp it so it appears to be coming out of the bird's back and sticking off at an angle to the upper right corner of the rectangle. Re-ink the stamp and stamp again slightly above the first feather. Re-ink one more time and stamp slightly below the first feather.
Mount the curving feathers image on Block C again. Ink it up with the Powder Pink Ink Pad and stamp it so it appears to be coming off the bird's back and curving towards the head. Re-ink and stamp one more time.
Mount the scattered dots image on Block B. Lightly ink it up with the Melon Mambo Ink Pad. Stamp it amongst the stamped feathers. Re-ink and stamp again amongst the feathers in a different area.
Mount the bird image on Block C again. Ink it up with the VersaMark Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small piece of Powder Pink cardstock.
Lay the stamped cardstock on top of the Grid Paper in the center. Sprinkle on some Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder so it covers all the VersaMark stamped image. Tap off excess powder. Return the excess powder to the container to use again later.
Heat the powder with the Heat Tool until it is completely melted (smooth and shiny).
Use the brush tip of the Rich Razzleberry Marker to color in the bird's wing.
Use Paper Snips to cut out the bird's body. Cut off the feathers on top of the head and on the tail and cut off the legs.
Use a Mini Glue Dot behind the head and SNAIL on the back of the body and adhere the gold bird's body over the top of the stamped Rich Razzleberry bird's body.
Adhere the stamped Powder Pink rectangle to the center of the piece of Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.
Cut a 5" piece of Gold 1/8" Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the stamped pink rectangle and designer paper layers so it covers the bottom of the bird's body. Flip the layers over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add more SNAIL to the back of the designer paper. Adhere the layers to the front of the card.
Mount the "Today is all about YOU!" sentiment on Block G. Ink it up with the VersaMark Pad. Stamp it in the center of the strip of Melon Mambo cardstock.
Lay the stamped cardstock on top of the Grid Paper in the center. Sprinkle on some Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder so it covers all the VersaMark stamped sentiment. Tap off excess powder. Return the excess powder to the container to use again later.
Heat the powder with the Heat Tool until it is completely melted (smooth and shiny).
Pick out the long, single, open banner framelit from the Bunch of Banners Framelits. Place the stamped sentiment on a Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on your Big Shot. Place the banner framelit on top so the sentiment is centered. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Poke out the banner with the sentiment and keep it. Also use the Paper-Piercing Tool to poke out the outline banner that is probably stuck inside the framelit, remove it, and throw it away. If you don't remove it, then you will have trouble cutting with this framelit the next time you use it.
Adhere the sentiment banner to the front of the card using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals so it is centered over the ribbon on the right side and sticks out over the right side of the Powder Pink layer a tiny bit.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of Gold 1/8" Ribbon. Slide one end under the left side of the ribbon on the card front. Tie in place with a half knot. Trim the ends.
