I am the queen of gift cards! I have reached the point I haven't a clue as to what my family wants, needs or wears. By giving gift cards I know that it is the right color, size and they will love whatever comes from it because they get to choose. I cased these instructions from Su Mohr over at Aromas and Art. They are super easy to make and can be adapted for any occasion.
Project Recipe
The success of this gift card holder is based on proper cutting and scoring. You can gift two gift card holders from one sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 card stock, however, you will need to cut an additional strip for the band for the second card. I used two of the same designed sheets of Tis the Season Designer series paper for the two pictured here. I just used the reverse design for the second one. The card that is opened I didn't round my corners but as you can see on the closed card, I rounded the corners of the card stock and the dsp for a different look.
Here are the dimensions and scoring instructions. Cut the Real Red card stock in two pieces of 7 3/4" x 5". Score at 6" and at 2 1/2". Score the 1" strip at 6 1/8" and 2 1/2". Cut the designer series paper as follows: Bottom front - 4 3/4" x 2 14"; Top front - 4 3/4 x 1 1/2. Cut a piece of Whisper White for you inside sentiment at 4 3/4 x 1 1/2. Attach each piece as pictured. I used a 1 3/8 circle punch in the center of the bottom flap to create a finger slot. I then attached the bottom flap with Tear & Tape adhesive. I also used Tear & Tape to attach the strip. Punch a bow from a left over piece of the designer series paper, attach to front of the band, insert gift card and slide band over the card and you have finished one of your Christmas gifts. So easy but so versatile.
